| So I just got my rebuilt shortblock since i detonated my number 6 ringland a month ago. Got a fresh set of heads too since my old ones were out of spec.... Anyways my question is I didn't have the block shaved. But the heads are being milled .003" from the factory new measurement. Basically my question is what is my success chance to use a cometic mls gasket on my not shaved block if the surface was flat edged and it good to go with freshly milled heads.? Im really worried about it leaking. What should I do to prep the block. Disassembling the short block really is not an option at this point. And i'm aiming for around 650rwhp on race gas.... So not sure if an OEM gasket can support that power. A buddy of mine said use copper sealant on the block side of the mls. And another buddy said just use a brillo pad on the deck surface of the block and it should be fine. What would you guys from experience tell me! I really don't want to have to pull this motor any more times as 5 times in 4-5 months has been enough. I've heard the horror stories about mls gaskets so im sure success has a lot to do with preparation... Just need some recommendations.. Thanks!
